Borough Council meets monthly: Council Workshops are held on the 1st Monday of the month at 7:30 PM, and Council Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM, both in Council Chambers, 3rd Floor, Borough Hall, Church Lane and Baily Road. Notices of these and special meetings are advertised in the Delaware County Times and posted at the entrance to Borough Hall. The monthly Borough Council meeting is also televised on the local government access channel (Comcast Cable Channel 10) at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd Friday of the month.
In addition to monthly meetings, Borough Council conducts business on an ongoing basis through standing committees and, in special instances, ad hoc committees. Borough Council also appoints the Zoning Hearing Board and the Civil Service Commission as described below.
The Borough Manager is appointed by Council and is responsible for the day-to-day business of Borough Government. Residents should contact him/her to request information, to ask questions, or to report concerns or complaints.
The Zoning Hearing Board is made up of five residents who serve as regular members and three residents who serve as alternate members, in the event that one of the regular members of the Zoning Hearing Board cannot attend a meeting. Meetings are held as necessary.
Requests for hearings before the Zoning Hearing Board should be made as follows: An appeal to the Zoning Hearing Board may be filed by the resident or business person affected, any officer or agency of the Borough, or any other person aggrieved. The Code Enforcement Officer will transmit to the Board all the papers constituting the record upon which the action was taken.
A request for a special exemption from a code (a variance) may be filed by any resident, tenant business person or any other person. A fee established by the Borough must be paid in advance of each appeal or application for a special exception.
The Borough Code calls for the creation of a Civil Service Commission in each Borough where "there is a police force or there are paid fire apparatus operators." The Commission is made up of two residents and a representative of Borough Council.

Finance Department is responsible for the overall record keeping and money management operations, and works with the Borough Treasurer, our banks and auditors to maintain accurate tracking of our funds. The Finance Department works closely with the Borough Council Finance Committee and State to see our financial records are exact and filed in a timely manner.

Yeadon's Tax Collector is Laverne Johnson. Her role as tax collector is to collect taxes for the taxpayers of the Borough of Yeadon and the William Penn School District. In addition, she will be collecting the Sewer and Refuse fees.
CODE ENFORCEMENT DEPARTMENT 610-284-3110
Yeadon is a wonderful community in which to live. Borough Ordinance No. 1448 is designed for the safety, health and welfare of the public. This ordinance ensures that housing and other properties are maintained and that resident's property values are protected
The Code Enforcement Department and its officers oversee violations of Borough Ordinance No 1448 and respond to complaints received from residents concerning possible code violations. Code Enforcement officers issue permits and inspect all construction.
The Code Enforcement officer is trained to review plans and performs inspection to insure compliance with the building code. The Borough's permit requirement is sometimes viewed as an infringement of personal property rights; however, the intent of the building code is to protect the public, as well as the property owner and people who visit or use the property. Proper code enforcement increases property values by reasonably ensuring that all work performed on the property meets the code and that the property is safe for occupancy.
Before you hire any contractor or subcontractor to perform work in the Borough, you should direct him/her to the Code Enforcement Department for appropriate licensing. All contractors are required to submit to Certificate of Insurance to the Code Enforcement Department before a license is issued. Residents contracting for work are reminded to check and make sure the contractor is licensed in the Borough before signing any contractual agreement for work.

- Eating and drinking establishments (Health License required)
- Electrical work
- Electronic and mechanical devices (including for amusement purposes)
- Handicapped parking
- Heat and air conditioning
- Interior alterations or repairs
- Peddling and solicitation
- Plumbing and sewer work
- Signage
- Steps, curbs and sidewalk construction
- Street excavation
- Storage shed and fences
- Swimming pool construction (in ground and above ground)
- Use and occupancy or resale of rental property.
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SERVICES 610-623-2392
The Emergency Management Services Code authorizes local governments to establish their own departments of Emergency Management Services. Yeadon's Emergency Management Services plans for emergencies, provide disaster relief during natural emergencies, and cooperates with federal and state agencies after disasters occur.
